After checking out my favorite political blog today (suggested reading for all) I see that Senator Pat Leahy goes buckwild on the Attorney General in the hearings on Wednesday. Here's some snippets.

But the preliminary findings of the 9/11 commission suggest that counterterrorism simply was not a priority of your Justice Department prior to September 11th.

Problems ranged in your department from an understaffed foreign translation program, woefully inadequate information systems, cultural attitudes that frustrated information sharing across agencies. Just one day before the attacks, on September 10th, you rejected the FBIs request to include more money for counterterrorism in your budget proposal.

And while you have recently been critical of the so-called wall between criminal investigators and intelligence agencies, you did nothing to lower it during your first seven full months in office.

Damn, that's just wrong

Mr. Attorney General, your statement lists accomplishments of the Department of Justice since 9/11, but you leave out a number of things.

For example, of course the obvious, Osama bin Laden remains at large.

Three defendants who you said had knowledge of the 9/11 attacks did not have such knowledge. The department retracted your statement and then you had to apologize to the court because you violated a gag order in the case.

The man you claimed was about to explode a dirty bomb in the U.S. had no such intention or capability, and because he's been held for two years without access to counsel, any crimes he did commit might never be prosecuted.

Translation: You're a dumbass.

Non-citizens with no connection to terrorism have been rounded up seemingly on the basis of their religion or ethnicity, held for months without charges, and in some cases physically abused.

And a racist.

I was so excited. The Pistons taking a 2-0 lead in the Finals, just needing to win 2 of 3 to end it in Detroit and than Kobe happened.

Well it happened. The bandwagon Tampa town strikes again, yes the Lightning, after...12...grueling seasons in the NHL have "finally" won the Stanley Cup.

No doubt the Lightning were the better team, but I really wanted Calgary to win. However I must say the atmosphere around Game 7 was pretty fun. I headed out to Channelside early Monday morning to mingle with some of the fans. We (I was with my friend Krassner) ran into some cute Calgary girls that were well liquored up (it's like 11 a.m. BTW) and we had lunch and listened to them mock Tampa fans. It was pretty funny, especially because these biker Lightning fans were so obnoxious and the chicks we were with were just laughing at them for being some stupid. Yeesh, nothing worst than unattractive female hockey fans, they might be the scariest creatures on earth.

Nonetheless the Canada team lost. Oh well, if it makes you guys feel any better, no one in America gives a shit that Tampa won.

Moving on, Dave and I are finally making serious headway with press-style in hopes of presenting it to some people soon. I'm typing a lot of stuff into excel these days, I'm glad I taught myself that program.

Otherwise it's hot, it's like 95 degrees here with the humidity making it feel like 125. I need to go find some Lightning shirts before all the "hockey" fans scoop them up. At least the mall is air conditioned and last time I was there I found a kick ass LT jersey.
