One Down, Life to Go
One more day and the first week of the new job is over. I'm beginning to really get adjusted to things a little better. I'm not used to the autonomy, morning hours or sleeping before 4 a.m., but I'm understanding it a little better. I still hate the hours and I will argue with anyone who things they are better than my night hours.
Good news is I found a place. It's a little north of where I wanted to be but it's a central location and it's in a nice condo complex. The bad news is I still haven't figured out how to do the move. The worst is that the cable agreement is shitty. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love my cable channels. My new cable doesn't have an On-Demand service (boo hoo) or any HBO or Showtime West channels. On the good side it does have The NFL Network and VH1 Soul so I'm willing to give it a chance.
I'm excited about moving all of my stuff here, I can get a lot of work done at home and really put my heart into this magazine.
Anyway, have a good weekend...Go George Mason!
and Happy Birthday

My Heroes...
...are the 3 people on picked all the Final Four teams on ESPN.com. 3 out of about 2.5 million.
I think I got one right (UCLA).

This Is It!
Well I said my goodbyes at
The Ledger and as of Monday I'll be starting my new job. It was tough leaving the paper, giving back my identification badge and moving on. In a weird way it's like I've reclaimed my life again. I'm no longer "the guy that works at the paper" and because the magazine is an annual, I'll never really be "the guy that runs the magazine", although if people like the magazine, it won't be a problem.
I had a fun weekend. I actually went out with my hot neighbor and had a few drinks on Saturday. There's actually a nice little martini spot in Lakeland (go figure, it comes right as I'm about to leave) and it was nice to chat with her and drink socially. Even though we didn't see much of each other, I'll miss living near Stephanie. She's very nice and she always went out of her way to pick up my paper and check my mail while I was away.
Anyway, I got a lot of hugs and nice letters from people as I departed. I'm no longer working at the paper, but the paper will always be a big part of who I am.
I still need to find a place, I'm crashing with a friend for the week, but I'd love to have a place set in stone by Tuesday/Wednesday so I can use the weekend to move.
Anyway, I need to get sleep, about six hours earlier than I used to go to bed, and I'll have updates about my first day sometime tomorrow.
