The Final Countdown
....two days left at work after I was given a charity day for good behavior (seriously).
It's a very bittersweet time, I going to miss the staff but I know I'm leaving because I have a good opportunity. I'm not being forced out and I'm not leaving out of frustration.
That being said I'm going to miss not being part of the day-to-day operations, it's pretty fun to be around a newsroom atmosphere (right Melia?)
-- No word on an apartment and no rush because I've been lazy as hell about packing. Nothing boxed, nothing packed, nothing nothing. I wish the movers I will eventually hire could box this shit up for me too.
As for the new job I start Monday and I'll be crashing at my friend Dan's house for the week and just returning on the weekends. If I really like the setup there I'll probably just stay until I fight a place or my lease runs out, whichever comes first.
-- As for the new job I had a great meeting with my new boss last Monday and a good phone conversation today. Most of the time right now I'm spending a few hours working out of the house, sending emails and making phone calls. It's very exciting to know that in a couple of months there will be a 350-400 page magazine with my fingerprints all over it. More important than that, I am not going to hate doing the work that is required. If push comes to shove, I'll write every fucking page of it if I have to.
Now I hope it sells a few copies since that affects my bonus money. A good sales season and I'll be making that good Curmudgeon cash (Hey Chris, we still running in November or am I going along??).
