For Sale: America's Trust...
...Every time I try to understand the Bush administration, I get more confused and I'm positive I'm not alone. As the president works hard to sell America's major ports to their friends from the United Arab Emarites [
Wire] (who's sales pitch was obviously...'Yes, we ARE an OPEC nation) in the name of trust I have just one question:
What is HE doing? Is this the new fight against terrorism, just make everyone filthy rich? God I wonder how my Republican readers, all two of them, feel about this one.
There's no doubt the administration has done research and this is obviously the easiest way for those involved to make ridiculous amounts of cash for themselves. I can't think of another reason.
"After careful review by our government, I believe the transaction ought to go forward," Mr. Bush told reporters who were traveling with him on Air Force One to Washington, according to news agencies. "I want those who are questioning it to step up and explain why all of a sudden a Middle Eastern company is held to a different standard than a Great British company. I am trying to conduct foreign policy now by saying to the people of the world, 'We'll treat you fairly."Ahh yes, there's our old affirmative action president (In other news a report details racial bias at voting polls [
Wire]), always willing to open his mind as long as the check clears. What's good for the Europeans (who hate him) is good for the Arabs (who really hate him).
"I can understand why some in Congress have raised questions about whether or not our country will be less secure as a result of this transaction," the president said. "But they need to know that our government has looked at this issue and looked at it carefully."In other words,
Cha-ching!!Now what's a controversial deal with Bush going on a usual emperor kick. He has threatened to veto any bill that attempts to block the deal despite Republicans and Democrats almost universally hating it (obviously angry they didn't buy more Haliburton stock) [
NYT]
"They ought to listen to what I have to say about this," the president said. "They'll look at the facts and understand the consequences of what they're going to do. But if they pass a law, I'll deal with it with a veto."Ahh yes, King Bush strikes again. I would ask if he's ever read the constitution or if he just uses it to wipe his ass, but I doubt he's ever read 'Cat in the Hat'. This guy vetoes about as much as K-Fed showers so there's obviously a major motive behind it.
But I have no clue of what it is....Someone's addicted to oil money and it ain't us.
