Lots of New Things...
..I've got an exciting life again. Ok, not really. But I'm finally jumping out of my comfort zone again.
I'm leaving the newspaper business (for the most part). I'm taking a job in St. Petersburg as the chief editor of magazine brand. My first job will be to see the creation of a preseason football magazine centered around Florida High Schools. It's an exciting job, it's going to be very busy between now and August.
The main issue is finding a place. I've centered in on three, but each have plusses and minuses. It's almost like an episode of 'House Hunters':
Place A: Closest to work (basically walking distance) and I like the old, historic style of the places. The potential problems come from size (only around 850 sq feet for two bedrooms) and the appliances (which I have a feeling are old).
Place B: Most expensive, but a decent location (5 minute drive from work). Hardwood floors, and a two-level place which will give me lots of room to stretch out. Laundry room with hookups is nice too.
Place C: Least expensive in terms of costs-per-foot, it's around the same price of Place A, it's got sweet apartment amenities (pools, fitness room, etc. etc.). It might be the easiest move. It's about a 5-10 minute highway jaunt to work.
So that's my problem with finding a place. Please give me suggestions.
-- I finally have a book idea. I'm going to be tracking the progress of this kid named Brian, he's one of my interns who has decided to try to make a run at it in PGA golf Q-school. He's a scratch golfer, excellent scratch golfer and he's going to spend a year or so as a club pro. Basically I'm just going to take a bunch of notes and do a bunch of interviews and see what I've got before he goes to Q-school. It might work.
-- I just bought tickets for a Mets-Nationals series in August that I'm going to see with my friend Taryn. Wouldn't you know Sunday, August 13 is 'Screech Bobblehead night'. That's great.
Anyway, I'll keep everyone in tune on the new job. It will be an exciting time.
