At a quick glance, I must welcome Bee-Ranom back to Sporting Fools, although I might have to delete him off the list after a hateful take on
Jordan.
FOB (Friend of blog) Mudge had a
laundry experience much similar to my Wal-Mart
experience and although he and Blair talked tough when I was lost for words, Mudge fell victim to the same problem. It's not as easy as it looks. Fortunately for Mudge, the woman lives in his building so he might have a second chance. I'm hoping I find the cute redhead at Target and until then I'll just enjoy the company of my favorite bartender, also a redhead. You'll have to scroll down about six to find Mudge's laundry story since he doesn't have a nifty trackbrack feature like me (thanks Stephanie!).
One day I need to figure out my obsession with redheads (ahhh
Maureen Dowd) . I would've never guessed this as I was growing up as I always had a thing for brunettes. It's strange and I'm wondering where it comes from.
Also to continue with the cheap plus, here's my
column it's on FOX vs. Randy Moss. I have overly dramatic broadcasters who try to steal the print media's thunder.
But back to Dowd, she sort of de-rails from her usual astute political
commentary to talk about relationships:
I'd been noticing a trend along these lines, as famous and powerful men took up with the young women whose job it was to tend to them and care for them in some way: their secretaries, assistants, nannies, caterers, flight attendants, researchers and fact-checkers.
Hmmm. Now I've always thought of myself as being attracted to professional women, ones with jobs or at least accomplished schooling. A lot of that has to do with the fact that I'm neither famous nor powerful. Plus I live in an area where it's more of a challenge to meet women with careers...or a nice set of teeth for that matter.
She ends the column with a quote from Carrie Fisher.
"I haven't dated in 12 million years," she said drily. "I gave up on dating powerful men because they wanted to date women in the service professions. So I decided to date guys in the service professions. But then I found out that kings want to be treated like kings, and consorts want to be treated like kings, too."
If this sounds like man-bashing column, it isn't. I'll be honest, the woman who has a career and can cook, clean and be home by 5:30 is far more appealing than the the woman who works 12-14 hours a day and comes home ready for a long bath and a lengthy sleep.
I don't think it makes me a pig, but everyday I realize that those expectations are very unrealistic.
