First and foremost, I did taste the
Firehouse Subs product and it was damn good. I reccommend the meatball sub if you are a carnivore.
Okay, I did have a work issue this week. It dealt with my vacation. I'm going to Las Vegas next month. The trip has been planned for months, everyone's had ample notice. So of course my forgetful boss says "Dude, I can't let you go next month...That's Florida-FSU weekend,".
Corey says, "Dude, I don't care. I've paid for my trip and unless you front me the $600, I'm going."
Than boss pulls his infamous "W" face, you know the face where he doesn't look like he's coming or going and is in general shock/confusion. I find most bosses have that face when an employee tells them "I don't care."
Now basically my end point is simple -- we're understaffed and there is no "good" time to take a vacation. Nov. 12 is my birthday and I'm working through that whole weekend in order to take the following weekend off. In reality, there's two months that are good vacation months for sports deskers, February and July, that's it.
Anyway, that's my dilemma, although it really isn't a dilemma because *I'm going*, it's a dilemma in the relationship with my current sports editor. How important is that relationship? I really don't know. I like my sports editor but I don't really care if he's angry with me. Normally I care about stuff like that, but I feel like I'm being punished for having some amount of talent.
My old co-worker sucked it up for four years and got fired. He never did shit, editors gladly approved his vacations because they knew he wouldn't fuck up if he was gone. He never got any better but he lasted four years! As for me, I'm good at my job, so it's noticed if I'm gone and there's always an issue with my vacations. So that's where I am, I'm going to Vegas, I don't care who's playing that weekend, someone else will have to deal with it.
