Spelling Bee on Primetime TV?
Splendiferous!
I don't want much network TV at all outside of Meet the Press and the occasional episode of Law and Order, but I'm very excited the ABC will be broadcasting the Scripps National Spelling Bee on primetime television next month.
Why does this make me so happy? Simple, it's nice to have the occasional educational program spotlighted on TV. People like their nighttime soaps, crime shows, glorified karaoke tournaments, etc. and I understand that. But finally someone's putting the spotlight on education and there will be some kid out there watching that can see his peers on TV for being smart and will want to be just like them.
